Our History

Marlin Reynolds, Nicholas Reynolds, John Reynolds

It is perhaps a reflection of our rural roots that has made the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home association with the Lexington, Callaway and Overton areas so special. This year will mark the 62nd year in business with many of our families coming from the same rural background. Founder Marlin Reynolds farmed near Seward until age 45 when he made the decision to leave the farm and go to mortuary school in Dallas, Texas. When he graduated, he returned to Nebraska and moved his family to Lexington in 1962. In 1984, son John went back to school, graduating from mortuary school in Dallas in 1986. Grandson Nick attended mortuary college in Denver, Colorado and is now the third generation in the firm.

John Reynolds began his well-deserved retirement in August of 2023. There are now two full-time Licensed Funeral Directors in office: Nick Reynolds and Jessica Medrano-Angel, who joined the firm in 2022. Our part-time employees are Kenny Pitkin, Shari Sheppard, Dave and Sheri Giesbrecht, Sarah Neben, and Steve Tomasek. We have two pre-need specialists, Sheri Giesbrecht who joined the firm in 2012, and Joel Frickey who joined us in 2014. They are available by appointment for any questions concerning preplanning, and prefunding.

These are the folks that are the "glue that holds us together". Reynolds-Love is a full-service funeral home. We offer pre-planning, monument sales and the "door is always open" for visiting or questions.

Here at Reynolds-Love, we welcome the opportunity to assist you in any way we can and are eternally grateful to our community for the continued support and trust in us to deliver quality funeral service.
