Vernon A. Worm, 68, of Cozad, Nebraska, formerly of Johnson Lake, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 15, 1954 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Vernon A. and Patricia (Cappen) Worm. Vern attended school in Waverly. He then went on to further his education at Milford where he earned his degree in Auto Mechanics.
Vern made his home in Omaha where he was employed with H & H Automotive. He then moved to Johnson Lake and would spend the next twenty plus years as the Service Manager for Plum Creek Motors in Lexington. They just recently moved to Cozad, Nebraska.
Vern was united in marriage to Michelle Gutierrez on April 21, 2007, at Johnson Lake, Nebraska. They enjoyed living at Johnson Lake where they made many friends and always had happy hour at the picnic table.
Vern was a huge supporter of the University of Nebraska Volleyball and Football teams. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and was an avid reader.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle of Cozad; his children, Kathy Kennedy of Fairbury, Mike (Cheri) Worm of Martel, Lori (Jeff) Green of Beatrice, Elizabeth (Mike) Uriel of Lincoln, Desiree (Oscar) Cabellos of Omaha, Dana Pike of Lexington and Broderick “Bubba” of Lexington; grandchildren, Haylee, Kalob, Codie, Riley, Ryan, Zachery, Skylar, Payten, Shania, Trenton, Nathan, Annessa, Jocelyn, Gabriela, Rafeal, Adelina, and Isaac; great-grandchildren, Liam, Conner, Kayden, Silloh, and Bowen; siblings: Jerry (Linda) Worm, Kenny (Ginny) Worm, Leslie (Jolene) Worm, John (Diana) Worm, Patty Farber, Yvonne Castle, Nancy (Bill) Mogee and Amy Jo Worm; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, Vern was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Hickerson, Steve Hickerson and Michael Worm; sister, Linda Allen and his stepmother, Shirley Worm.
A Celebration Of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Rex Adams, officiating. The family request casual attire. Vern made it very clear, no dressing up!
Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
