Lexington

Tim L. Sund (T.L.), 72, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Tim was born on July 28, 1952, in Lexington, Nebraska to William H. and Gertrud (Herzog) Sund, Jr. Tim attended public schools in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1970. He then went on to continue his education at Kearney State College for a year before finishing up at Hastings Tech.

Tim was united in marriage to the love of his life, Deb Hock on August 5, 1972, in Lexington. They made their first home briefly in Lincoln where Tim worked for a construction company before moving back to Lexington in November of 1972. Three children were blessed to this union: Melissa, Jennifer and Travis. Tim’s passion for construction began at an early age when he worked alongside his father, Bill at Sund Construction learning the construction industry. In 1985, he and Deb founded T.L. Sund Constructors, a venture that allowed Tim to nurture not only his business but also a close-knit team he considered family. The business continues with his son. Tim remained dedicated to his work up until his health started to decline, leading to his “retirement” around 2022.

Outside of work, Tim cherished his time outdoors, engaging some of his favorite activities such as seining minnows, hunting, trapping, and fishing. He felt the closest to God while immersed in nature, finding joy and peace in the beauty of the world around him. He loved riding around River’s Edge Ranch with his dog and having a cold Toddie watching God’s creations he was blessed with. He was an avid outdoor conservationist, where he was an active and Lifetime Member of SCI (Safari Club International), and Nebraska SCI, where he served on the board for many years. He was a supporter of the local Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever programs. Tim was a proud Eagle Scout for Troop 144 and served on the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department for 22-years. Tim and Deb began the Rivers Edge Ranch in 1996 proudly building the legacy for their family. They spent many years buying, selling, raising and showing llamas, and loved every minute of it together. The couple also enjoyed taking time off work and traveling and spending time with family. Tim believed that family was incredibly important. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he was proud of the legacy he has left behind. Tim touched many lives beyond family, and anyone who knew him experienced his sense of humor, caring soul and loving heart. Tim will be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to his family, his entrepreneurial spirit, and his love for the great outdoors. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and a deep appreciation for life.
