Thomas R. Rowan, 91, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Thursday, April 12, 2018, at his home in Lexington. He was born July 28, 1926, in Brandon, Nebraska, to Charles and Susan (Stubbart) Rowan. Tom was united in marriage to Wanda Whipple on August 9, 1947, in Smith Center, Kansas. Four daughters were blessed to this union: Diane, Kathy, Carolynn & Lois. The family moved to Cozad, Nebraska, in 1934 and moved to Lexington, Nebraska, in 1976. Wanda passed away on August 26, 1965. Tom would find love again and married Frieda Shanholtz on December 26, 1971. Four children were added to the family: Karla, Toni, Margo & Tim. Frieda passed away on March 30, 2015. Tom worked at the Cozad Hay Mill before working at Haymaker Feeds from 1961 until 1996 where he was a mechanic. He was a jack of all trades. Tom could fix anything. He enjoyed working on tractors, cars and remodeling homes. He was very organized and a good welder. He enjoyed going to Auction sales and didn’t miss a family event. Survivors include his children, Diane (Gordon) Quitmeyer of Lincoln, Nebraska, Kathy (Keith) Schmeeckle of Eustis, Nebraska, Carolynn (John) Wells of Cozad, Nebraska, Lois (Dave) Peters of Lincoln, Nebraska, Karla Woods of Gering, Nebraska, Toni McGrath and Margo McCance of Lexington, Nebraska & Tim (Terri) Keesecker of Lincoln, Nebraska; one sister, Marjorie Smith of Sterling, Kansas; thirty-eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Wanda and Frieda; two grandchildren, Timothy McGrath and Michael Quitmeyer; sister, Lavonia Snodgrass; and, son-in-law, Vern McGrath. Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Pastor Rex Adams, officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Cozad Cemetery at Cozad.
