Tammy Bennett

April 6, 1959 — September 18, 2022

Tammy Bennett, age 63 of Raymond NE, formerly of Lexington NE, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Raymond on Sunday, September 18th.

Tammy was born on April 6th, 1959, to Roy and Betty (Rickertson) Clark in Lexington. Tammy attended school at Bryan Elementary, Lexington Jr. High and graduated from Lexington Senior High in 1977 with several honors and a scholarship to the Community College in Hastings.

On March 10, 1978, Tammy married Scott Bennett of Lexington and 2 children were born to this union, Amanda, and Jacob. Nothing was more important to Tammy than her kids and her grandkids. She made sure to make every holiday and birthday very special for them. Tammy and Scott made their home in Lexington until 2000 when they moved to Lincoln. In 2008 they bought an acreage with an old house built in 1887. That was also a dream come true for her to make the old house as beautiful of a home as possible and to plant many flowers and do landscaping.

Tammy worked for the Supreme Court in the office of County Court for 26 years in Lexington and in Lincoln. When she left there, she worked for 2 different Law Firms in Lincoln, eventually growing tired of office work, desks, and bosses. She started making crafts again and would go to craft shows to sell her very beautiful work and candles. She was most happy doing this. She retired on her birthday in 2021 to devote more time to making crafts. She did take on a part-time job at the NE Game and Parks with her husband that summer but wanted to spend this year with nothing but crafts.

When in Lexington many may remember her as a softball coach, a baseball coach, a soccer coach, a helper with cub scouts, boy scouts and girl scouts and Sunday School. You would also see her at every school and church event that her children were involved in.  She loved to take her kids on camping trips nearly every weekend during the summers and several ski trips each winter to Colorado one with the kids and another one with friends. Just so you know, she didn’t just ski the bunny slopes, she was a black diamond skier.

Tammy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nancy Lindeman and brother-in-law Richard Lindeman both of Cozad.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Scott Bennett of Raymond; Daughter Amanda Rummel (Shawn Ruble) of Ceresco; son Jacob Bennett (Alenah) of Garland; 6 grandchildren Rebekah, Elijah, Trinity and Cecilia Rummel and Jack Ruble of Ceresco; Rollind Bennett of Garland; 2 step grandchildren Fenina Rummel of Chicago and Hayli Ruble of Ceresco who she loved as her own; three sisters, Karen (Frank) Loomer of Columbus, Susan (Chick) DeMoss of Lincoln, Judy (August) Daake of Lexington. Many cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 2 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastors Eddie Mariel, and Harvey Pierce officiating.
