Stanley Eugene Linch

Stanley E. Linch, 87, of Lexington, Nebraska, died on Monday, May 21, 2018, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington. Stan was born October 3, 1930, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Charles and Elizabeth (Farnham) Linch. He graduated from Kearney High School in 1948. Stan was honorably discharged in 1952 after serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Stan was united in marriage to Kay Humphrey on January 17, 1953. He received his teaching degree from Kearney State College, and later earned his Master’s Degree. Following his college graduation the couple moved to Ansley where Stan was the high school principal, taught math, and coached football, basketball and track. In 1965 the family moved to Ainsworth where he continued to teach and coach. In 1969 the family settled in Lexington where Stan served as the guidance counselor at Lexington High School until his retirement in 1996. Stan was well known in Lexington not only for his school career but selling fireworks for many years. Stan also enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. Stan was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Lexington, the American Legion, VFW, Nebraska Counseling Association, Nebraska Teachers Association, and the Teachers Associations in Lexington, Ansley and Ainsworth. Stan was preceded in death by his loving wife Kay in 2006, his parents Charles and Beth, his brother James and an infant daughter. He is survived by two daughters, Lauri Linch Zadel of Lexington and Sheryl (Don) Parker of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and two sons, Jim (Lisa) Linch of Lexington and Jerry (Kathy) Linch of League City, Texas; five grandchildren, Timaree (Zach) Buell of Lexington, Jacob (Crystal) Linch of Olathe, Kansas, Rachel (Kyle) Mayor of Overland Park, Kansas, Karney and Kooper Linch of League City, Texas, and two great grandchildren, Harper and Brooks Linch of Olathe, Kansas. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington with Reverend Anne Gahn, officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, May 28, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Stan & Kay Linch Scholarship Fund for Higher Education. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is honored to be assisting the family.
