Ruby G. Moon, 98, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away, Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington. Ruby was born November 7, 1919, near Cozad, Nebraska, to Jim and Mary (Jorgensen) Christensen on the farm north of Cozad. She graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1937. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. On August 31, 1941, Ruby married the love of her life, Everett Moon. Ruby and Everett made their home in Buffalo, New York the first few years of their marriage. There they made many happy memories and friends that they kept throughout their lives. They later moved to the family farm, where they made their home and raised their children; Jim and Charyla. Ruby worked for many years at the Cozad hospital as the head cook. She enjoyed sewing, reading, music, traveling on trips with Everett, and being with her family. Ruby is survived by her children; Jim (Sandra) Moon of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Charlya (Joe) Phillips of Elwood, Nebraska; five grandchildren; Kim (Kevin) Forster, Tom (Tam) Phillips, Karla Moon, Kristin (Kris) Stratton, and Jon Moon. Twelve great-grandchildren; Dillon Tiede, Danielle Forster, Katie (Jon) Rhodig, Lynn Forster, Korey Forster, Elspeth Moon, Victoria Stratton, Elijah Stratton, Grace Moon, Joseph Moon, Maura Christen, and Alex Christen; two great-great-grandchildren; Ryann Christen and Tucker Rhodig; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, parents, Jim and Mary Christensen; daughter-in-law, Mary Moon and two brothers, William Christensen and George Christensen. It was Ruby’s wishes for cremation. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
