Royal G. Robinson, 80, of Kearney, formerly of Lexington, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society-St. Johns in Kearney.

He was born on October 13, 1944, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Jesse and Virginia (Ogg) Robinson. He attended public school in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School with the class of 1962. Shortly after graduation, Royal joined the Air Force, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After his discharge in 1969, he returned to Nebraska and lived in several locations in the Dawson County area until 2024, when Royal moved back to Kearney.

During his free time, Royal enjoyed going to casinos, and playing cards at the Grand Generation Center with his friends. He also liked spending time at home, watching some of his favorite westerns, especially Gunsmoke. His favorite past time was fishing with his son, Brian. They shared many memories of fishing in the sandpits in Overton, as well as several other places in the area. Royal was also a prominent member of the Eagles Club, working as a state officer for many years.

Survivors include his son, Brian (Karen Schukei) Robinson of Overton; brother, Gary (Cyndy) Robinson of Republican City; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, Royal was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry, Barry, and Roger Robinson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with family receiving guest from 5-7 p.m.

Burial with Military Honors will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska, with Lay Minister Sarah Neben officiating.
