Rosa Idalie Valente, age 5, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in Omaha on April 2, 2025, surrounded by her family, just as she loved to be. Born on October 8, 2019, in Lincoln, Rosa lived a vibrant life that defied every expectation. From the very beginning, she brought light, laughter, and love into the world.
Rosa lived with complex congenital heart disease, facing countless medical needs as part of her daily life. But those challenges never defined her. What truly defined Rosa was the way she moved through it all, with unmatched strength, joy, and grace. She never complained, even on the hardest days, and often said she was happy, even when her body was fighting quiet battles. She deeply loved her “super heart” and took pride in it.
She was the happiest little girl, full of laughter, sass, and boundless love. Her favorite thing in the world was blasting music, especially hip-hop and reggaetón, with Bad Bunny and Rauw Alejandro always topping her playlist. She was the star of every dance floor, never running out of energy and always finding a new dance partner when the last one needed a break. Her energy was magnetic, and her smile lit up every room she entered.
Rosa loved bubbles, flowers, school, and her friends. She proudly danced with her ballet team and cherished moments at the park, the zoo, arcades, or simply relaxing with her tablet and games. She found joy in the smallest things and made them feel like magic. She had a unique gift for connection, quickly becoming someone’s favorite just by being herself.
Her love was big, bright, and constant. She often told her parents how much she loved them and promised that she would always be with them. She was an angel who gave more love in her five years than many do in a lifetime.
Rosa’s family was blended, but always united when it came to her. Through co-parenting and deep love, her family came together every time she needed them. Rosa had a way of bringing people together, during every hospital stay, special occasion, and even at her birth. While most hospitals had a limit of 10 people on the visiting list, Rosa had several pages, and up to seven pages at her primary hospital. Her presence filled rooms and hearts alike
In lieu of flowers, donations to help cover Rosa’s funeral expenses are welcome, either given directly to her parents or through her GoFundMe page.
