Ronald LeRoy Light, 57, of Hastings, Nebraska, formerly of Visalia, California, Reno, Nevada, Omaha and Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at his home.
He was born on May 29, 1963, in Tulare, California, to Ronald (Melvin) Light, and Nadine (LoVelle) Grugett.
When his daughter, Ronie was young they moved halfway across the country from California to Nebraska. He stayed busy working as a mechanic. He was baptized with Ronie in 2007 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Omaha. He moved to Hastings, Nebraska from Lexington in 2015.
In the last two years, he got in contact with his son, Donny Gomes in California. He was so excited to be reunited with his son.
He enjoyed cruising around town on his Harley, and he waved at absolutely everybody. His granddaughter Penelope, he loved so much. His eyes and smile just lit up whenever she was around. He loved working on all types of vehicles and radios. He always said, “there isn’t anything I can’t fix” and it was so true. His hobbies included collecting and tinkering with drones. He actually liked tinkering on just about anything he could get his hands on. Ron also had a huge rock collection, he would cruise to the little blue river and find the coolest rocks, arrowheads, bones and fossils.
Sam the Cat, as he called him, was his baby. He loved cats. Him and Ronie would search cat videos on YouTube for hours and laugh until they cried.
He was loved, but stubborn, hard headed, tough and sometimes sweet as could be. He had a good heart, just tried to hide that sometimes. And he always did his best. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his daughter, Ronie Light, 23, of Lincoln; his son, Donny Gomes, 35, of California; his daughter, Lindsay Malone with ex-wife Shelly Malone of California; ex-wife Cindy Wadkins of California; grandchildren, Penelope Light, Samatha Gomes, Gabriel Gomes, and Gage Gomes.
