Ronald L. Jorgenson

  • Ronald L. Jorgenson, 86, of Callaway, Nebraska passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024 at the Callaway Good Life Center with his wife by his side.

  • Ron was born on January 28, 1938 in Gothenburg, Nebraska to Leland H. and Martha A. (Fichenscher) Jorgenson. He attended public school in Callaway and graduated from Callaway High School with the class of 1955. He then went onto pursue higher education where he majored in Chemistry, Physics and Math and earned a bachelor’s degree from Kearney State College.

  • He moved back to Callaway and was united in marriage to Geraldine Hoffman. To this union, 3 children were born, Shelly, Kent and Nancy. After this marriage ended, he later met and married Em (Etta Mae) Chrisinger and gained bonus children Daren, Derek and Diane.

  • Ron spent a summer during his college years drilling wells for the state in Lincoln. Ron worked with his father in the well drilling business, Jorgenson Well Drilling. He started Jorgenson Implement in Callaway, selling John Deere equipment for ten years. He then purchased and owned KSJ Implement in Lexington for twelve years. During his years of owning and running his John Deere businesses, he was also an active Callaway Volunteer Fire Department member and was on the Callaway School Board. After selling his John Deere business, he worked for Valmont Industries for a few years, and then went on to become a regional manager with various seed corn companies. He was also a Custer County Supervisor for 12 years as well as being a part of the Nebraska Intergovernmental Risk Management Association. (NIRMA) He remained active in his community until he retired at 80 years old. To say Ron was a hard worker is an understatement.

  • In 1962, Ron was instrumental in raising bonds to build the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, along with Bob Cook and Curt Benger. As the years progressed, he knew that the Callaway Good Samaritan Center was greatly needed in the community, so when there was a possibility of closing, he once again stepped up and helped the community raise funds to keep it going. It was renamed Callaway Good Life Center. Outside of work, Ron enjoyed maintaining his yard with his John Deere mower and going to the farm to mow with his John Deere tractor. Ron also loved his dog Izzy and spent many hours with her on the sun porch and taking her for a ride in his pickup. He and Em enjoyed playing golf for fun.

  • Survivors include his beloved wife, Em Jorgenson of Callaway; children, Shelly (Rod) Jenkins of Broken Bow, Kent (Lori) Jorgenson of Elkhorn, and Nancy(Jim) Solano of Johnstown, Colorado; bonus children, Daren (Christy) Chrisinger of Cozad, Derek (Susan) Doty of Kansas City, Missouri, and Diane (Dana) Eggers of Texas; grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Voelker, Michaela (David), Rodgers, Joel (Kristen) Jorgenson, Kami (Nick) Lee, Cody (Kristin) Gunther, and Cassie Gunther; bonus grandchildren, JR (Malie) Solano, Sarah (Nate) Bailey, Andrew (Alexa) Chrisinger, Micah (Nikki) Chrisinger, Emily (Jared) Crick, Amanda (Ryan) Yaeger, Ryan Doty, Matt (Lori) Sondag, and Mark (Beth) Sondag, 21 Great Grandchildren, as well as numerous other extended family members and friends.

  • Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kaye (Calvin) Moore and his dog Izzy, whom he loved very much.
