Roland L. Trampe

January 23, 1934 — March 29, 2018

Roland L. Trampe, 84 of Elm Creek, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018, at his home.   He was born January 23, 1934, in Pleasanton, Nebraska, to Henry and Esther (Smallcomb) Trampe. He attended rural school in Buffalo County and graduated from Kearney High School with the class of 1951.   Roland was united in marriage to Dorothy I. Brock on June 23, 1957, in Kearney. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Jamie, Rick, Deb & Ron. The family lived near Odessa prior to moving to Seeley Lake, Montana where Roland and Dorothy owned & operated Holland Lake Lodge. It was there that he led many hunting trips and fulfilled his dream as a hunting guide. He also had an adventurous side, and loved to fly. He even owned his own plane.   In 1969, the family returned to Elm Creek where Roland built their home. He farmed until his retirement in 1999.   Roland was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney where he held the distinction as Elder. He was a past member of the Elm Creek District #94 school board.   His passions were hunting, fishing, woodworking, and telling stories. The family loved to see the grandchildren gather around him listening to him tell his tales about their life in Montana. He was quite a character, a little on the ornery side and loved life, his family, and his church. He will be so very missed.   Survivors include his children; Jamie (Lisa McGilvray) Trampe of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Rick (Pam) Trampe of Lexington, Nebraska, Deb (Doug) Hild of Elm Creek, Nebraska, and Ron (Jackie) Trampe of Elm Creek, Nebraska; two brothers; Keith Trampe of Mitchell, Nebraska, and Larry (Marsha) Trampe of Livermore, Colorado; thirteen grandchildren; Lindsey, Shawn, Elizabeth, Blake, Alex, Blair, Ashley, Hunter, Keaton, Jordyn, Gabriele, Garrett, and Jaiden; seven great-grandchildren; Corbin, Kendall, Brecken, Emersyn, Casen, Riley, Ayla, and one on the way. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.   Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; grandson, Riley Cole Trampe; and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Trampe.   Funeral Services will be Monday, April 2, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney, Nebraska with Pastor Doug Gaunt officiating.   Visitation will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018, from 2-4 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington.   Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Elm Creek Cemetery at Elm Creek.   Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church or the Donor’s Choice.   Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
