Richard E. Frerichs, 66, of Elwood, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at his home.
He was born on April 25, 1956 in McCook, Nebraska to Elmer and C. LeArdis (Keith) Frerichs. At a young age his family moved to Lexington where he attended public schools.
Following High School, Richard worked for the Hay Mill in Lexington. He then started his career in construction where he worked for Gary Blu and built many homes in Lexington. Following his time with Gary, Richard worked at Orthman’s, Tenneco-Monroe in Cozad, before joining Vince Urban Construction. Richard enjoyed working for Vince and being a carpenter. He was united in marriage to Cissy Ziegler on October 10, 1975 in Julesburg, Colorado. Two daughters were blessed to this union: Angie and Raquel. The family made their home in Lexington, their marriage would later end in divorce.
In the last 90’s, Richard moved to Elwood, Nebraska. Following his time working for Vince, Richard worked maintenance at the Tyson Beef Packing plant before joining Allied Security Company at the Tyson truck gates.
Richard was a gifted woodworker, handyman and problem solver. He loved and had a passion for buying and restoring antiques. He also loved going to blues festivals. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, camping and just being outdoors, but above all, Richard was a humble, kind, and free spirit who loved his grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughters, Angie (Glen) Doyle of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota and Raquel (fiancé Darin Racek) Frerichs of Lexington; two grandchildren, Caleb (Mackenzie) Doyle of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Jalen Doyle of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; one brother, Robert (Deb) Frerichs of Eaton, Colorado; three sisters, Doreen (Jack Phillips) of Sterling, Colorado, Janice (Kevin) Cassels of Marietta, Oklahoma and Anna Marie (Ed) Yeutter of Lexington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Jo, son-in-law; Jason Hafner and brother-in-law, Dale Robinson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner, officiating. The service will be live-streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page.
Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
A memorial will be established in Richard’s honor and is kindly suggested to the family.
