Rhita M. Hock, 95, of Lexington, Nebraska died on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. Rhita was born December 16, 1923 in Elgin, Nebraska to Charles K. and Ida (Jouchum) Bode. At the age of 8, her family moved to Sutherland, Nebraska where she graduated with the class of 1942. Following graduation Rhita moved to Lexington where she was the bookkeeper at Banks Clothing and met the love of her life, Thomas. She was united in marriage to Tom Hock on February 6, 1944 in Kansas. To this union, nine children were born, Larry, Cheri, Tim, Jon, Randy, Sam, Holle, Mari and Michael. After Tom’s death in 1965, raising her children was her life. In 1969, once the youngest was school age, she renewed her bookkeeping career with the local hay mill in Lexington and then twenty years working in the Lexington and Tri-County hospitals. After retiring from the hospital, she enjoyed working at antique stores with John Jordening, and as a reading Mentor at Morton Elementary for eight years. She was 75 years member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church where she was on the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Iris & Rose Society, VFW Auxiliary, Eagle’s Club and D.O.E.’s. She loved dancing with Tom at the 1733 ballroom and VFW as part of a dance club. Playing the piano by ear, reading, crossword puzzles, word jumbles, sewing, gardening were all passions. Survivors include Larry (Sandy) Hock of Cozad, Nebraska, Cheri Kahrhoff (Charles) of Scottsdale AZ, Tim (Ginger) Hock of Ashboro North Carolina, Jon (Carrie) Hock of Lexington, Nebraska, Randy (Cheryl) Hock of Cozad, Nebraska, Sam (Susan) Hock of Phoenix, Arizona, Holle (Dan) Stark of Lisco, Nebraska, Mari Arnold of Peoria, Arizona and Michael Hock of Denver, Colorado; twenty two grandchildren, thirty one great-grandchildren with one on the way and four great-great grandchildren; one brother, John (Ginger) Bode of Alda, Nebraska and one sister, Patricia (Jim) Young of Okeechobee, Florida. She was preceded in death by Tom, her parents Charles and Ida Bode, his parents Louis and Odessa Hock, grandson, Craig Kahrhoff, great-granddaughter, Madison; six brothers and two sisters. A Memorial Mass will be on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Neal Nollette, officiating. A Memorial Book Signing will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Inurnment will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to Lexington Volunteer Fire Department or St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
