Raymond Donald Benham

Raymond D. Benham, 79, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Elwood Care Center. He was born May 29, 1939 in Indiana to Bud and Ruth (Powers) Benham and was one of sixteen children. Raymond grew up in Indiana and in his early teens started working for the family business as a Logger. He enlisted in the United States Army on October 31, 1956. He was honorably discharged on June 3, 1960. Raymond moved to Perry, Oklahoma where he worked at a water treatment facility. He would live in Perry until 2006 when he retired and moved to Lexington, Nebraska. Raymond enjoyed visiting and sharing stories with family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them about fishing. Survivors include his son, Don Benham of Lexington, Nebraska; daughter, Cindy (Anthony) Lopez of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Connie Benham of Perry, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Brandi Benham (Bruce Ransdell) of Kearney, Ashley Branstiter (Matt White) of Elwood, Josh Benham (Ashley Shubert) of Kearney, Tami Benham of Perry, Oklahoma, Becky Benham (Chris Sypert) of Perry, Oklahoma, Jason Lopez of San Francisco, California and Markus Lopez of Bluffton, South Carolina; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother and four sisters; also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; son, Melvin; daughter-in-law, Teri; six brothers and four sisters. There will be no visitation.   The family is honoring Raymond’s wish for cremation. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in Perry, Oklahoma.
