Ramona Lea “Moni” Barnett, 82, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, February 26, 2018, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington. She was born September 21, 1935, in Burlington, Colorado, to Lester and Bernice (Bishop) Duncan. She attended school in Burlington. Moni was united in marriage to Chester L. Barnett on October 7, 1960, in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado. While in Cheyenne Wells she worked a local restaurant. Chester preceded her in death in 1986. Moni moved to Lexington in the 1960’s. She went to work at Kirk’s Nebraskaland Restaurant on Interstate 80 at Lexington where she did just about anything. She cooked, and helped out wherever she was needed. She worked there for 30 years. Moni also worked at South Central Developmental Services in Cozad, Nebraska. She was always active. Moni was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #5136, the Eagles club #2922, and very involved with Special Olympics. Her daughter, Mary competed in bowling for Special Olympics, which was a favorite hobby of Moni’s as well. She was a part of Dawson County Relay for Life, something she enjoyed thoroughly. Moni loved going out to eat; especially, to the Grand Generation Center, the Vet’s Club and the Leprechaun. Family was very important to her, as well as planting beautiful flowers. She had a heart of gold, a sweet little giggle, and a kind word for everyone she met. She was a special Angel. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Bernice Barlow of Lexington, Nebraska; nieces and nephews; Diana Estrada of Murrieta, California, Carrie (Glenn) Swartz of Weskan, Kansas; Gloria Richardson of Glenwood, Colorado; Goldie Arbuthnot of Columbia, South Carolina, and F. Jesse (Sheryl) Barnett of Stromsburg, Nebraska; as well as extended family and friends. Moni was preceded in death, in addition to her husband, by her parents, and three siblings. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 2, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Pastor Rex Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
