Phyllis J. Flynn, 87, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Plum Creek Healthcare Community. She was born November 22, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Anna Mae (Wagner) Bernhardt. Phyllis attended Chicago Public Schools through the 10th grade and then received her GED.  Phyllis was united in marriage to William E. “Bud” Flynn on February 3, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois. Four children were blessed to this union: William Michael, Christine Ann, Jeffrey Allen, and David Ellis.  Phyllis was a stay at home mom until the children were out of school and then went on to work at Fair-Rite Products on the assembly line in Illinois.  They moved to Ainsworth, Nebraska in 1979 before returning back to Robinson in 1981.  Bud preceded her in death on September 22, 1993.  In 1996 Phyllis moved to Johnson Lake, Nebraska.  After her diagnosis of Parkinson's in 2003, she moved in with Jeff and Michele in Lexington. For many years, Phyllis worked for Lexington Public Schools in the cafeteria.  She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, planting flowers and playing cards.  She also enjoyed traveling and camping.  Phyllis loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s activities. St. Ann’s Catholic Church was very important to Phyllis as well.  She was involved in St. Ann’s Study group and helped out wherever needed.  Survivors include her children: Christine (Jack) Shields of Oblong, Illinois; Jeffrey (Michele) Flynn of Lexington, Nebraska; David (Angie) Flynn of Palestine, Illinois and brothers, Charles (Ann) Bernhardt of Spring Hill, Florida and William Bernhardt of Spring Hill, Florida; sisters, Lois (Ralph) Bennett of Bonneau, South Carolina, Joanie (Chuck) Lazzaroni of Lansing, Illinois and Sarah (Gary) Kimbrell of Lowell, Indiana; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.  The family would like to give a special thanks to her favorite care-giver Elsie Underwood of Plum Creek Care Center.   Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bud; son, William “Mike” and a niece, Kerri Midkiff. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.  Additional services will take place in Robinson, Illinois on Friday March 1, 2019 at Pulliam Funeral Home.   Visitation will be from 11-1 with services and then burial to follow.  Burial will be at Richart Cemetery in Robinson, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to ruralMED Home Care Resources Or The Hope Center For Cancer Patients in Lowell, Indiana.  The Hope Center was founded by her niece Kerri before she lost her battle with cancer.
