Naomi Fagot, 94, formerly of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the Cozad Community Hospital.
She was born on October 30, 1927, in Cozad, Nebraska to Ralph and Hazel (VanHoosen) Johnson. Naomi received her education at Cozad High School where she joined the cheerleading squad and was voted high school sweetheart by her peers. Naomi graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1945.
On September 30, 1946, Naomi was united in marriage to Warren Fagot in Lexington. To this union, the couple were blessed with five children: Randal, Linda, Pam, Scott and Shane. The family made their home in Lexington, Nebraska where Naomi focused her efforts on caring for the home and raising her children. Naomi began working in the late 70’s and early 80’s working at Knudsen’s Jewelry and would later work at Frosts in downtown Lexington. Warren passed away on July 18, 1989.
Naomi had a great love for sports and was quite active. She loved following her children during their school activities to cheer them on and would eventually watch her grandchildren’s school activities as well. She was a big fan of snow skiing and would often take skiing trips with her close friends. Naomi enjoyed doing water aerobics with a group called The Mermaids, and afterwards, taking a trip down to the McDonald’s for a coffee and a chat. She enjoyed gambling and even hit a jackpot a few times. In her later years, Naomi would spend her time playing dominoes and cards at Shackley and on Monday nights, she could be found at Kirk’s having dinner with her friends.
Along with her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, Warren; her brother, Stephen Johnson; sisters, Nadine Jobman and Sharon Norton; her daughter, Linda Fagot; daughters-in-law, Candace and Diane, and great granddaughter, Katelynn Koubek.
Survivors include her children, Randy Fagot of Lexington, Nebraska, Pam (Larry) Brown of Gilbert, Arizona, Scott (Shari) Fagot of Waterloo, Nebraska and Shane (Pam) Fagot of McCook, Nebraska; her sister, Yolanda Martin of Elwood, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and 13 great-great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez, officiating. The Mass will be live-steamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Interment will be in St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery at Lexington following the luncheon.
