Myrene G. Woodward, 86, of Minden, Nebraska, formerly of Overton passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the Bethany Home in Minden.
She was born on May 2, 1936 in rural Mason City, Nebraska to Ted and Vina (Bray) West. She attended public schools in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School with the class of 1955. She then went on to further her education at Kearney State College for two years earning her Teaching Certificate. Myrene taught for a few years in rural schools around Mason City.
Myrene was united in marriage to Alvin Woodward on June 28, 1959 in Mason City. Two sons were blessed to this union: Bart and Brad. The family made their home in Overton, where Myrene focused her efforts on caring for the home and their sons. Alvin preceded her in death on December 17, 1995. Myrene moved to Kearney in 2009 before settling at Bethany Home in Minden to be closer to her son, Bart.
Myrene was a faithful member of the Fairhaven Baptist Church and was part of the Fairhaven Mission Society.
In her younger years, Myrene enjoyed playing golf and she loved music, listening and singing. While living at Bethany Home, Myrene kept busy doing crafts. Family was a very important part of her life, and she enjoyed following her grandchildren’s school activities.
Survivors include her sons, Bart (Jill) Woodward of Minden and Brad Woodward of Montverde, Florida; five grandchildren, Zachary Woodward of Morrison, Colorado, Laynee Woodward of San Diego, California, Addison (Jackson) Love of Omaha, Bryce Woodward of Montverde, Florida and Ryan Woodward of Montverde, Florida; sister, Nelle Cushman of Holdrege; sisters-in-law, Billie Clements of Lexington, Gladys Hodgson of Cozad and Carol West of Overton; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides her parents, Myrene was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; brother, Elwood West; brothers-in-law, Cecil Cushman, Carol Clements, and Ken Hodgson.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Eddie Mariel, officiating.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Interment will be in Robb Cemetery south of Lexington.
