Monty Charles Goin, 58, of Gothenburg, formerly of Kennewick, Washington, passed away unexpectedly, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.
He was born on February 28, 1966, in Baker City, Oregon, to Jess LaVern Goin, Sr. and Lola Turner. Monty and his family lived in Pasco, Washington, where he was active in 4-H until he turned twelve when the family moved to Nebraska. He attended high school in Hildreth, Nebraska, where he excelled in football. Monty left high school a month before graduating but later achieved his GED in 1994.
Monty was an incredibly hard worker and was known as a jack of all trades. After high school, he spent most of his time at the Bethphage Mission in Axtell, Nebraska, before he began working for the Larson Brothers Construction LLC, then later transitioned to Gunderson NW Railroad in Washington. Later, he took on A manager role for his local Dairy Queen before retiring due to his health.
Monty always had to keep his hands busy and his mind sharp. He was an avid tinkerer, who taught himself woodwork, and metalwork, making his knives among various other oddities from scratch. Monty loved working on cars and was in the process of restoring a 60's Jeep for his grandson and was a Mopar man through and through. His family remembers him as the best cook, always able to make a delicious meal out of whatever ingredients they had lying around the house. Monty wasn't one to stay in one place and adored the nomad lifestyle, traveling from coast to coast in search of something new and exciting. He was sometimes rough around the edges but possessed a heart of gold and always cared for those around him, never hesitating to take care of others.
Those left to honor his memory are his Faithful Dog Rusty, children, Cheryl (Jack) Albrecht (Buckingham) of Eustis, Ashley (Bryan) Zulkoski of Cozad, Conner Charles Goin of Washington, Emily Orlob of Spokane, Washington, and Autumn Jackson; honorary daughter, Jamie (Nate) Partridge of Loomis, Nebraska; siblings, Sam Goin, Jess Goin, Jr., and Patty Masterson; grandchildren, Dakota Buckingham, Kaden Buckingham, McKenzie Buckingham, Paxton Buckingham, Peyton Buckingham, Anthony Jenkins, Alexander Jenkins, Natalie Jenkins, Wriley Orlob, Etta Orlob, Trinity Goin, Harmony Goin, Brooklyn Paterson, Kyler Andrew William Eaton, and James Goin; great-grandchildren, Renessamae Free Just-Buckingham, and Koen LeeRay Buckingham; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family, and many friends.
Besides his parents, Monty was preceded in death by his siblings, Valerie and Kevin (Cara) Russell; grandson, Isaiah Goin, honorary daughter, Chasity McCance, as well as His Beloved Dogs Hurk, Baby Girl, Peanut and INK.
