Michael Aubrey Demilt

October 23, 1954 — December 19, 2021

Michael A. Demilt, 67, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021at his home after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 23, 1954, to Von Dwight and Cynthia Jane (Emerson) Demilt.  He attended public schools in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1973. 

Michael was united in marriage to Lucille Wise on November 10, 1973 in Callaway, Nebraska.  Three children were blessed to this union: Bret, Angela and Barbara.  They made their home in Callaway, before moving to Cozad and in 1981, they settled in Lexington. 

Michael always kept himself busy and held numerous jobs throughout the years in the Lexington area.  In 1981, he worked for Sperry New Holland before they shut down.  Michael then worked at OK Tire, Valley sales and Husky Truck and Travel before spending the next fourteen years as a welder at Orthman Manufacturing in Lexington. He then went onto work at Becton Dickinson in Holdrege until 2014 before he took a job with Tyson in Lexington working Security until his health forced him to retire.  

In September of 1976, Michael enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged in August of 1990.

Michael had many hobbies which included riding his motorcycle, travelling with his wife, Lucille, and deer hunting in his younger years.  He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

He was a past member of the Eagles Club and enjoyed being part of the Patriot Riders.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Lucille of Lexington; children, Bret Demilt of Shelton, Angela Demilt of Cozad and Barbara (Frank) Mladek of Cozad; seven grandchildren, Aubree (Jordan Jessup) Mladek, Elizabeth (Joshua Boon) Demilt, Jesse Mladek, Lane Demilt, Emmajean Mladek, Jazmine Demilt and Brady Demilt; one great-granddaughter, Everleigh Boon; brothers, James (Lila) Demilt of Ogallala and Steve (Deb) Demilt of Ogallala; sisters, Charlotte (Dick) Korn of North Platte and Debra Scott of Caldwell, Idaho; sisters-in-law, Barbara Demilt of Holbrook, Massachusetts, and Linda Morrison of Yakima, Washington; brother-in-law, Kyle (Charlotte) Wise of Callaway; his fur buddy, shadow; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Dwight; granddaughter, Serenity and brother-in-law, Lonnie Scott.

There will be no visitation or services, as the family is honoring Michael’s wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Michael’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family.
