Melba J. Brown, 83, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at her home in Lexington.
She was born on May 8, 1941, in Portales, New Mexico, to Trice and Opal (Nolan) Bouldin. On June 5, 1967, Melba was united in marriage to Merritt Brown in Colorado Springs. Four children were blessed to this union: Gus, Tom, James, and Sharon.
Melba loved working with her hands, crocheting works of art, and painting ceramics. She also enjoyed spending time at home, looking through the latest Facebook gossip, playing solitaire online, or keeping her mind sharp with word searches. Melba watched WWE wrestling religiously and her favorite moment was being pulled into the ring with the Iron Sheik during a live show. If she wasn't watching WWE, she was watching the Royals or Kansas City Chiefs; she rarely missed a game. Melba loved spending time with her family and always spoiled her grandchildren as much as she could. Her happiest memories were with her grandkids, being their Barbie doll when they were younger, and making sure they knew how loved they were by her.
Those left to cherish her memory is her love and caregiver, Brent Garcia; children, Gus Brown, Tom (Lisa) Brown, James Brown, and Sharon (Lance) Olsen; sister, Virginia Goar; grandchildren, Paige (Matt Owens) Arnold, Casey (Paige Strezishar) Arnold, Daniel (Hailey) Kuefner, Shane (Lindsay) Brown, Mikayla (Ryan) Baldwin, Matt Brown, Meghan (Larry Murray) Brown, Emilee (Miles) Stoner, Melissa (Beau) Billeaud, and Trevor (Kerri Bross) Brown; 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Melba has too many adopted children and grandchildren to list, but she loved them all and she was known to all as their mimi.
