Maria Elena Velazquez de Romero

    Maria Elena Velazquez de Romero, 80, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Lexington Regional Health Center with her family all around her.   She was born March 9, 1938, in Numaran, Michoacan, Mexico, to Manuel and Maria (Saldana) Velazquez.   Maria was married to Jose Romero in Mexico. The couple was blessed with eight children; Noe, Martin, Alejandro, Jose L., Juan, Sergio, Manuel, and Maria. They moved to the United States in 1991, and resided in Riverside, California. They then moved to Lexington in 1994.   Maria was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She loved her church, it was her life, her community, and her love. She also enjoyed being with her large family, the grandchildren, having family gatherings, and being together. She loved gardening, and growing flowers.   Maria will be so very missed by her family, her church family, and her many friends.   Survivors include her children; Noe (Angelica) Romero of Lexington, Nebraska, Martin (Berenice) Romero of Lexington, Nebraska, Alejandro (Maria C.) Romero of Lexington, Nebraska, Jose L. (Maria G.) Romero of Lexington, Nebraska, Sergio Romero of Lexington, Nebraska, Manuel Romero (Sandra Rodriguez) of Lexington, Nebraska, and Maria E. Romero & Gilberto Herrera of Lexington, Nebraska; one sister, Ofelia Velazquez of Mexico; as well as eighteen grandchildren.   Maria was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jose; and one brother.   Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Reverend Jose Chavez celebrating.   Visitation will be Tuesday, April 17, 2018, from 2-6 p.m. with Rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington.   Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.   Burial will be next to her husband in Mexico at a later date.   Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
