Maria Auxilio Martinez de Fregoso, 74, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.
Maria was born on May 24, 1947, in Jalisco, Mexico to Pedro and Maria (Rodriguez) Martinez. She was united in marriage to Enrique Soto and to this union five children were born: Leticia, Raul, Jose Luis, Margarita, and Adriana. This marriage would later end in divorce. While living in California, she was united in marriage to Heriberto Fregoso. One daughter was blessed to this union: Ana Gabriela. They made their home in California before moving to Lexington in 1991. Maria raised her children and in her later years watched and cared for her grandchildren.
Maria was a faithful member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington. Praying the rosary was important to her; she loved cooking, she was very caring and had a contagious smile that would light up a room. Her family, church, and faith were always an important part of her life. Maria has left a tremendous legacy of love, and faith to her family.
She leaves to celebrate her life; her husband, Heriberto of Lexington; her children, Leticia Soto of Mexico, Raul (Carolina) Soto of Lexington, Jose Luis (Beatriz) Soto of Lexington, Adriana (Manuel) De La Torre of Santa Ana, California and Ana Gabriela (Jose Luis) Cardenas of Lexington; son-in-law, Fernando Espinoza of Mexico; three brothers, Antonio Martinez of California, Jesus (Imelda Jimenez) Martinez of Lexington and Ricardo Martinez of California; four sisters, Maria de Los Angeles Martinez, Maria de Socorro Martinez, Martha Martinez and Margarita Martinez all of California; 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides her parents, Maria was preceded in death by her daughter Margarita and infant daughter Adriana; and a brother, Juan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez, officiating. The Mass will be live-streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington.
Burial will be in Mexico.
Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
