Lois M. Oman, 95, of Callaway, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the Callaway Good Life Center.
She was born on September 29, 1926 in Rural Callaway, to Lawrence and Irma (Huenefeld) Fochtman. She received her primary education from Fairview country school in Custer County and then attended and graduated from Callaway High School, with the class of 1945. Following her graduation, she went to Normal Training School and received her teaching certificate and taught for two years Fairview country school.
On December 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Donald Dean Oman in Callaway. This union was blessed with two sons: Craig Eugene and Stephen Don. They lived on the Berry place for a short time before moving to Gothenburg. They lived in Gothenburg for a year before moving to a farm southwest of Callaway, where she has lived the past 73 years. Lois moved to the Callaway Good Life Center in 2021.
Lois was a member of the Morning Star United Methodist Church where she received her 75 year membership pin and longtime member of the HHH Extension Club.
Lois loved watching birds, playing sudoku puzzles and was an avid reader. She was a homebody, but she faithfully followed her son’s, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities, which included everything imaginable.
Lois leaves to celebrate her life, her sons, Craig (Sue) Oman of Callaway and Steve (Sheri) Oman of Broken Bow; seven grandchildren, Kara (fiancé Lee Berks) Grauerholz of Kearney, Jason (Mindy) Oman of Kearney, Matthew (Brandi) Oman of Doniphan, Kristina (Brent) Karsten of Kearney, Levi (fiancé Brook Painter) Oman of Belleville, Kansas, Marilyn (Ryan) Coleman of Ceresco and Zachary (Kody) Oman of Arnold, Missouri; twenty great-grandchildren; sister, Doris (Walt) Hendricks of Broken Bow and sister-in-law, Loy Christensen of Creston, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides her parents, Lois was preceded by her husband, Donald in 1999; brother, Wilfred (Barbara) Fochtman; sisters, Rose (Jim) Thomas and Shirley (Gerald) Booker, Shirley’s second husband, brother-in-law, Gilbert Rieker; brothers-in-law, Bob Christensen and Carroll Oman; and sister-in-law, Kerry Ann (Al) Ridge.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Callaway, Nebraska with Pastor Shanon Williams, officiating. The Service will be live-streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022, one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway.
