Kevin D. "Flash" Crites

Kevin D. "Flash" Crites, 60, of Elm Creek, Nebraska passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, February 21, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on January 2, 1965, in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Ralph and Ila (Winder) Crites. He received his education from Overton Public Schools, graduating from Overton High School with the class of 1984.

Kevin was a Transport Driver for Midwest Specialty Services. He had a passion for helping others and took great pride in being a Fireman, volunteering for many years with many departments which included Overton, Elm Creek, Kearney, Gibbon and Wood River.

Kevin was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping. He enjoyed bowling and playing cornhole with his brothers, helping his brother with his race car, attending rodeos, and spending time at the casino. If you knew Kevin, you knew that riding his motorcycle was his happy place. 

Survivors include his four brothers, Roy (Cindy) Crites of Arcadia, Calvin (Janice) Crites of Kearney, Russell (Patti) Crites of Overton, and Francis "Boomer" (Jessica) Libra of Elm Creek; his adopted son, Jordan Crites of Odessa and his girlfriend, Lachele Schamle of Cozad; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides his grandparents, Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Crites and mother, Ila Libra; stepfather, Francis Libra and nephew, Shawn Crites.

Funeral Services will be on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Harvey Pierce, officiating. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Following the traditional funeral service, cremation will take place and burial will be held at a later date in the Cozad Cemetery.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
