Kent Henry Kovar, 52, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at his home in Lexington.

He was born on October 11, 1972, in Oshkosh, Nebraska to George Kent and Barbara Jean (Pearson) Kovar. He graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1991. Kent had his first son, Austin, in September of 1990 with Amy Araujo. Kent would later be united in marriage to Cheryl Payton and their son, Tucker, would later be born to this union in 1994. This marriage would later end in divorce.

Kent spent many years as a lineman for the City of Lexington and then transitioned to maintenance at Tyson, where he dedicated many years to the company. Kent was quite a handyman and was able to fix many things on his own in his home. He taught himself masonry work and rebuilt the chimney in his home. Kent loved staying active and was always at the gym, especially on the Stairmaster. He enjoyed bike riding and participating in the Calamus Run by the Calamus Reservoir. He was also known to be an avid gun collector.

Those left to honor his memory is his mother, Barbara McCormick of Valentine; sons, Austin Araujo of Schuyler, and Tucker Kovar of Kearney; grandchildren, Eva and Aaron Araujo of Schuyler; sisters, Gina (Kovar) Knox of Kearney, and Billie Jo (Kovar) Fling of Ainsworth; as well as extended family and many friends.

Kent was preceded in death by his father, George Henry Kovar; grandfather, Henry Kovar; grandmother, Nettie (Hagadorn) Kovar. 

The family is honoring Kent's wish for cremation.
