Kenneth Hendricks, 99, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Ridgeway in Lexington.
He was born on December 21, 1923 in Lodi, Nebraska to Rollie and Cleta Faye (Boggs) Hendricks. Ken attended school in Callaway and graduated from Callaway High School with the class of 1941.
Following graduation, Ken went on to further his education at the Lincoln Air Mechanic School before moving to Buffalo, New York. While in New York, Kenneth began working in the Curtis-Wright Airplane Factory Defense Plant. He met Ruth R. Aikin on a blind date, and the rest is history! Kenneth married Ruth on February 6, 1944 in Ransomville, New York, and four children were blessed to this union: Bonnie, Kathy, Kenneth “Wayne” and Deb.
Kenneth and Ruth moved back to Nebraska in 1944 to farm near Callaway in the Stop Table area until 1955. They then moved to Grand Island, and he began studying at the Grand Island Business School for two years before moving once again to Columbus to work for Jeffrey Accounting. In 1957, they moved to Lexington where he worked for Walter Dunlap in the office doing books for a few years then was parts manager for Fairbanks International before retiring in 1985. Following retirement, Kenneth and Ruth traveled extensively and would spend their winters in Yuma, Arizona.
Kenneth loved anything involving the outdoors. He would hunt, fish, go boating and camping and had a knack for woodworking.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ruth Hendricks, of Lexington; daughters, Bonnie (Ron) Rowand of Berthoud, Colorado and Deb (Bernie) Petersen of Hartsel, Colorado; brothers, Walter (Doris) Hendricks of Broken Bow, Nebraska and Richard Hendricks of Callaway, Nebraska; grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kathy; son, Kenneth “Wayne”; brother, Orin Hendricks and sisters-in-law, Della Hendricks and Joyce Hendricks.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor John Strackbein, officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Memorials are kindly suggested to the Dawson County Relay for Life.
