Kathryn Mary Colgan

Kathryn M. Colgan, 60, of Lexington, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the Lexington Regional Health Center.

She was born on May 1, 1964, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Thomas P. and Arlene A. (Brown) Colgan. The family moved to Colorado when Kathryn was young, and she attended public school in Arvada, graduating from Arvada High School with the class of 1983. In 1984, Kathryn became incredibly involved with her family's grocery store, Eagle Food Mart, and thrived as a checker. She worked there until the family moved to Johnson Lake, Nebraska in 1994, where she began working at Sunmart. She loved being a part of the grocery store business where she often brought customers in with her vivacious attitude and infectious smile.

Although Kathryn had a difficult start to life, she never let it hold her back. She had a vibrant attitude and was able to make friends very easily. You would often find her listening to her favorite music or watching her favorite concerts during the State Fair. Kathryn was a spit fire, always ready with a comeback and a great sense of humor. She loved playing cards with her friends and never missed a single Husker game.

Those left to cherish her memory is her brother, Kirk (Elaine Walker) Colgan of Centennial, Colorado; aunts and uncles, Ron (Dodi) Brown of Lincoln, and Ben (Julie) Long of Longmont, Colorado; as well as her best friend and caretaker who spent many years with Kathryn, making her laugh and cherishing many moments together, Debbie Werger of Johnson Lake.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Arlene Colgan.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Lonna Grabenstein, Chaplain, officiating. 

Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Lexington following the service.
