John David Howard, 71, of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020, at his home.
John was born on August 8, 1949, to William and Dorothy (Lavery) Howard in Kansas City, Missouri.
He graduated High School in 1967, from East Jefferson High in Metairie, Louisiana. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, from Nicholls State University in 1971. In 1971, he entered the US Air Force and served his country until he retired in 1991. After his retirement John was a commercial pilot for US Airways until he retired in 2009.
John married Denise Yocom on April 22, 1988 in New Jersey. She preceded him in death on March 5, 2020. They would have been married 32 years.
He liked to travel, camp, read, pass on knowledge, fly kites, and spend time with family. He also enjoyed looking at the stars and tinkering in his shop. John enjoyed good food and good company and a good story. Most of all, he liked quiet times, reading and watching TV with Denise.
John is survived by; a daughter, Dorthy (Bradley) Neumiller of Mills, Wyoming; a son, Alexander “Alex” Reed of Casper, Wyoming; granddaughters: Summer Young (Derek Beal), Taya Reed (Dallas Brummett), and Dolores Neumiller; grandsons: William Neumiller and Jerome Neumiller; great-grandchildren: Skylah Young, Braxton Beal, Harper Brummett and Brysen Brummett; sisters: Patricia Ann Nix of Texas and Dorothy Sue Dole of Tennessee,
He was preceded in death by his parents, William andDorothy Howard, his sister Stella Howard, his brother William “Billy” Howard, and his wife, Denise.
A graveside service with military honors will be heldFriday, October 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska.
Inurnment will be in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery Columbarium.
Memorials are suggested to the Nigel Sprouse Memorial Library.
