Johannah D. Hochstetler, 53 of Lexington passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha. Johannah was born May 29, 1965 in Grand Island, Nebraska to John and Beverly (Cox) Kinzie. She attended grade school in Grand Island then moved and graduated from Merna High School with the class of 1983. After graduation she attended college for a year. She moved to Lexington and was employed at the ASCS office and later was an accounting clerk for IBP. On September 1, 1996 she was united in marriage to Kurt Metzger at the Chapel Of The Lake at Johnson Lake. Johannah worked in Dr. Buser’s office from 1998 until 2010. She then returned to back to UNK where she obtained her BA in English and Philosophy. She had being working on achieving her second BA when she became ill. At the time of her death she was the Community Ed Coordinator at Central Community College in Lexington and also been teaching some classes at UNK. She loved reading, writing, gardening and had a huge heart for stray animals and also helping children that were having difficulties in their lives. She also enjoyed going to movies with Kurt. Survivors include her Husband, Kurt Metzger of Lexington, two Sons: Ashton and wife Ashley Hochstetler of Cozad and Calvin (CJ) and his wife Samantha Shaw of Cozad. One Brother Chris and wife Kelly Hochstetler of Council Bluffs, Iowa, four Grandchildren: Aubrey, Austin, Ayden Hochstetler of Cozad and Lani Shaw of Cozad. Preceding her in death were her parents. A Memorial Celebration of her life will be held Friday, February 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
