Jessica Guerrero - Hurtado, 19, of Lexington and a student at Central Community College–Hastings, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at Mary Lanning Healthcare as the result of a car accident. Jessica was born March 27, 1999 in Lexington, Nebraska to Jose and Maria (Hurtado) Guerrero. She attended Morton Elementary, Lexington Middle School, and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 2017 and was a member of the National Honor Society. Jessica was very active in school where she participated in cross country, tennis, helped staging for theatre and choir. She loved music so much that she played the flute in the high school band and became a section leader. After, Jessica attended Central Community College in Hastings and was working to earn a degree in either Accounting or Psychology. As well, Jessica had been working at Casey’s North General Store in Lexington where she made many friends in a short amount of time. She had a contagious smile that would light up the whole room. This positivity had great impact on everyone she was around. Jessica had many friends and loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her parents, Jose and Maria Guerrero; siblings, Diana Guerrero-Hurtado of Kearney, Nebraska, Lucila Guerrero-Hurtado of Lexington, Nebraska, Jose Jr., Guerrero-Hurtado of Lexington, Nebraska and Alejandra Guerrero-Hurtado of Lexington, Nebraska; uncles, Jesus (Cecilia Lopez) Guerrero of Lexington, Nebraska and Miguel (Alejandra) Guerrero of Lexington, Nebraska; aunt, Idolina (Artemio) Zavala of Lexington, Nebraska, and two grandmothers in Mexico. Jessica was preceded in death by her two grandfathers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez, officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 1-5 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Rosary will be recited on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery.
