Celebrating The Life Of Jerry Lee Porter May 21, 1947 – October 26, 2021 Jerry Lee Porter of Sumner, NE passed away October 26, 2021, in Lexington. Born May 21, 1947 in Callaway, NE to Lloyd and Margaret (Buschow) Porter. Jerry grew up on a farm near Sumner, NE where he was active in all high school sports. After graduating high school, he joined the National Guard for 6 years while working at New Holland in Grand Island. On June 30, 1967, he married Joyce Triplett. They were blessed with two wonderful children. A daughter, Tammy, and her husband Greg Hanel of Lincoln, NE and a son, Ryan, and his wife Jacque of Lincoln, NE. In 1978, they moved back to Sumner, so Jerry could farm. Jerry has 3 grandchildren: Camden Hanel and Kacey and Charlie Porter. Jerry never met a stranger. He genuinely liked people and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Anyone who knew Jerry, knew he liked to talk! There wasn’t anyone he knew that he wouldn’t take the time to visit with. Jerry had many friends and spent lots of time camping in Colorado and Wyoming with several of them. Cousin, Roger Buschow and Jerry, could tell you many stories of their adventures together! Jerry also enjoyed spending time at his sister, Deb’s. He always called her place “a little piece of paradise.” A lot of cribbage and marbles were played there. Whenever there was a family get together or Buschow family reunion, Jerry would always call on his friend, Janella Clauson to make his favorite pies and cinnamon rolls. The Porter family knows all about the pie lady. Thank you Janella! That meant so much to Jerry. Jerry is survived by his daughter and her family, son and his family, grandchildren, sisters JoAnn (Dave) Currie of Lincoln, NE, Dianne Porter of Omaha, NE, Deb Jones of Lexington, NE, Judy (Tim) Schroeder of Omaha, NE and brother Dr. Richard (Gwen) Porter of Ceresco, NE, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Margaret Porter.
