Kearney- James E. McTygue, 91 of Kearney, formerly of Eddyville, died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Jim was born July 11, 1926 in Eddyville, Nebraska to Francis “Frank” and Mary Veronica “Vera” (Neville) McTygue. Jim attended school in Eddyville and graduated with the class of 1944. On September, 21, 1945, Jim entered the US Army and served his country in WWII. He was honorably discharged on November 28, 1946. After the service he did construction work in Nebraska and Wyoming. Jim was united in marriage to Barbara Dickerson on June 13, 1959 in Eddyville, Nebraska. After marriage he and Barbara made their home in Eddyville, where Jim continued to do carpentry for several years and began ranching. Jim loved spending time with his family and especially loved to attend cattle auctions. Jim was a past member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Eddyville, a member of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington, the Eddyville American Legion, VFW, and the Knights of Columbus. Jim is survived by five sons, Jim of Omaha, Mark of Eddyville, Joe and wife Alma of Kearney, John of Overton, and Matt and wife Melissa of Eddyville; two daughters, Mary and husband Paul Schipporeit of Sumner, and Anne and husband Sid Klingelhoefer of Amherst; eleven grandchildren, Abby and husband Ryan Brooke, Andy and wife Audrey Schipporeit, Stephanie and husband Marshall Behrens, Sam and wife Symantha Tibbetts, Joe McTygue, Sarah McTygue, Katie Klingelhoefer, Jacob Klingelhoefer, Kalen Klingelhoefer, Josh Klingelhoefer and Madison Mills; three great-grandchildren, Max, Cale, and Vonn Behrens; two sisters-in-law; Dolores McTygue of Sumner, and Jean McTygue of Kearney. Jim is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife Barbara in 1993; four brothers, Pat, Frannie, Bob and Mike; four sisters, Anna Marie, Catherine, Loretta and Patricia. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 4, 2018 at 10:30 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will be Friday, May 4, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Custer County Foundation for benefit of SEM School Foundation, Eddyville Fire Department or the Eddyville Legion Auxiliary.
