James "Jim" Montgomery Dudding

James “Jim” Montgomery Dudding, 84, of Johnson Lake, Nebraska passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021, unexpectedly at his home. He was born on June 19, 1937, to Don and Mary (Nauert) Dudding. Jim was one of eight children. His family resided in Riverside, California and Jim attended public schools in Riverside. Jim enlisted in the United States Navy four times beginning on January 28, 1955 and proudly served his country before being honorable discharged on September 19, 1975. Jim retried from the United States Navy after twenty years. Jim was united in marriage to Patricia Ryan in 1969 in California. They made their home in Fontana, California and raised three children together, Charlene, Darla and Wayne. While living in California, Jim drove truck working for Commercial Honing Company, hauling hydraulic equipment. Following his retirement, Jim decided to move to Nebraska to for a change of scenery. He lived at Johnson Lake, Elwood, and Bertrand before moving back to Johnson Lake to live with his granddaughter. Jim was a history buff and enjoyed watching the History and National Geographic Channels. He was an avid reader and was always working on crossword puzzles. He enjoyed listening to music and sitting on the porch drinking his stout coffee. His grandchildren got him hooked on playing the Wii and played lots of sports game with them. He was also a diehard Los Angeles Dodgers baseball fan. Survivors include his son, Wayne Dudding of Elm Creek and his close friend, Charity Marquardt of Funk, his daughter, Charlene Dudding of California; ten grandchildren, Melody, Gracie, Kollin, Zachary, Xander, Gunner, Leann, Karrie and Nicole; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard Dudding of San Diego, California, Chuck (Barbara) Dudding of Aurora and John (Kathy) Dudding of Carlsbad, California; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Darla McCoyz; grandson, Denver McCoyz; wife, Patricia; brothers, Billy, Ronald, and Donald; and a sister, Barbara. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. The service will be livestreamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page. There will be no visitation, as the family is honoring Jim’s wish for cremation. Burial with full Military Honors will be at 3:00 p.m. in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska. Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
