Jacquetta “Jackie” Ione (Majer) Pesek was born March 20, 1939 at home in Ravenna, Nebraska to Frank W. and Dorothy I. (Malick) Majer. She passed away of colon cancer on Saturday, December 15, 2018 after fighting the disease for 6 years. She attended Ravenna Public Schools and graduated in 1957. In 1958 she married Kevin Pesek and later divorced in 1987. Two children were born to this union, Stuart and Susan. Jackie was an avid reader. She was always interested in learning. She didn’t watch regular television she liked public television with all of their nature, news, and British shows. She also liked NPR radio, which she listened to it every day. She loved to garden and bird watch. Basically, anything dealing with nature had her interest. Her family was her world. She helped with her grandkids when they were younger and went to their games and programs as often as she was able to attend them. Jackie’s working career included insurance, banking and hotel sales in Kearney, Holdrege and Grand Island. During retirement she volunteered at Crane Trust, Nebraska State Fair, Hall County Visitors Bureau and briefly for Dawson County Museum. Survivors include her son, Stuart (Charlotte) of Shelton, Nebraska; daughter, Susan (Tim) Rowe of Elwood, Nebraska; grandchildren include, Luke (Jennifer) Pesek of Shelton, Nebraska, Jamie (Ryan) Petersen of Gretna, Nebraska, Skyler (Curtis) Roemmich and Dylan Rowe of Lexington, Nebraska and Tanner Rowe of Elwood, Nebraska; two great grandsons, Cayson Roemmich of Lexington, Nebraska and Myles Petersen of Gretna, Nebraska; two sisters, Barb Sealey of Marquette, Nebraska and Linda Brundage of Las Animas, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents. A graveside Celebration Of Life will be held Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Highland Park Cemetery at Ravenna, Nebraska.
