Geraldine "Jerry" L. Ditson

Geraldine "Jerry" LaVonne Ditson, 81, of Bertrand, Nebraska, formerly of Overton, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.

She was born on May 31, 1943, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Albert and Dora (Carver) Connelly. On September 6, 1959, Jerry was united in marriage to the love of her life, Alan Ditson, in North Platte, Nebraska. Three children were blessed to this union: Virginia, Patricia, and Robert. The couple moved to Oklahoma shortly after while Alan was proudly serving his country until they moved back to Nebraska in 1961. They lived in several towns in Nebraska over the years until settling in Overton in 1973, where they made their home until May of 2024, when they moved to Bertrand.

Jerry enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved spending her days with her friends, drinking pots of coffee and sharing stories. She could listen to your stories all day if you let her. Often times you would find her at home, working on her crossword and jigsaw puzzles or playing cards with her family. She cherished all the time she got to spend with her children and held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In their younger years, Jerry and Alan were avid dancers and loved traveling to several dance halls, showing off their dance moves. They even had the opportunity to dance on live television on Channel 13 with their square-dancing club.

Survivors include her loving husband, Alan Ditson of Bertrand; children, Virginia (Ricky) Gennrich of Bertrand, Patricia Bennett of Overton, and Robert (Deb) Ditson of Overton; grandchildren, Cody (Laura) Kipp of Sargent, Cord (Jasmine) Kipp of Bertrand, Cari (Justin) Geiken of Gothenburg, Jessica (Marshall) Carson of Bird City, Kansas, Harley Bennett of Kearney, and Lane Ditson of Overton; great-grandchildren, Ethan (Abby), Elissa, Eve, Baylee, Gavyn, Billy, Journee, Jayla, and Opie; sister, Mary (Craig) Finke of Gothenburg; brothers-in-law, Floyd (Laurel) Ditson of Colorado, and Don (Joan) Ditson of Indiana, as well as extended family and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Dora; father and mother-in-law, Howard and Grace Ditson; grandparents, Arthur and Ruth, and sister-in-law, Doris.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, with family receiving guests from 5-7 p.m.
