April 16, 1926 — November 9, 2024

Lexington

Geraldine Ruth Bricker, 98, of Lexington Nebraska, died Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Elwood Care Center in Elwood, surrounded by her family.

Geraldine was born to Clyde and Nina E. (Depue) McColloch on April 16, 1926, in Brule, Nebraska. After graduating from Brule Public Schools in 1943, she worked at the US Postal Service for three years. On January 18, 1946, she was united in marriage to Milo Everett Bricker in Ogallala upon Milo’s return from World War II in Europe. They were blessed with four children: Linda, Karen, Robert, and Mark. They lived in three different areas around Nebraska before finally arriving in Lexington in 1956. Geraldine was a devoted Presbyterian with great conviction in her faith and love for God. She was an involved member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she not only taught Sunday School alongside her husband for a time, but she was also a long-time member of the Women’s Circle and also spent time in membership with the Christian Women’s Club. In the community, she served as a member of the Lexington Community Concert Association for a time.

Geraldine was a dedicated homemaker and mother, as well as working 10 years as a bookkeeper at a local furniture store. She loved sewing, embroidery, yard work, and baking. Her children could often be found in clothing of her own making, with many of her daughter’s dresses for Sunday services, and holidays being handmade—even one of Karen’s prom dresses! She gained her love of embroidery from her mother, making numerous quilts and baby blankets for each of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her yard and every summer she and Milo had a large garden. She spent many hours canning the vegetables they grew. Her grandchildren grew up eating grandma’s canned green beans. Geraldine always kept an offering of some baked sweets at hand for family, friends, or guests. As her children can attest, she always had a fresh plate of cookies ready upon their return from school growing up.

Geraldine is survived by one daughter: Linda Liebendorfer of Ashland, Nebraska; two sons: Bob (Gretchen) Bricker of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Mark (Brenda) Bricker of Boulder, Colorado; grandchildren: Brett Liebendorfer, Eric Liebendorfer, Ryan (Dorinda) Moellering, Scott (Ali) Moellering, Andy (Tara) Moellering, Paige Bricker, and Kurt Bricker; great-grandchildren: Tony, Barrett, Monroe, Emery, Olivia, Everett, Thomas, Colette, Miles, and Maren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milo in 1998; sister, Dorthy Foster; brothers, older—Raymond and twin—Gerald “Bud” McColloch; son-in-law, Jon Liebendorfer; and daughter, Karen Moellering.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Eddie Mariel, officiating.

Burial will be held prior to the service at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska.
