Frank Eugene Albertson, of Lexington, passed away on November 15, 2024, at Ridgeway Senior Living in Lexington, Nebraska.
He was born in Bison, South Dakota, on October 26, 1938. When he was two, the family moved to Carter County, Montana, where his father took up sheep ranching. Frank started school in 1944 at Plainview Country School, but later went to school in Camp Crook, South Dakota, just across the state line where the family lived for the next five years. In 1949, they relocated to the Black Hills for the growing family to attend elementary and secondary school in Nisland, South Dakota, where Frank graduated in 1956. Frank went to Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska but went home after the first semester to take up wheat farming.
In 1960, Frank married Sandra Bartel and together they had three children, Gene, Shawna, and Stephanie. When that marriage ended, Frank and Sheila Howey Vogt were married in 1976 and in 1978, a son, Erik, was born. Again, divorce was the next step for Frank. In 1985, Frank met Ann Larsen Philips and they put their families together in a marriage that lasted until Frank's Death.
Leaving farming behind in 1961, Frank's continuing education at Black Hills State University resulted in a BS in Education in 1965. His teaching career started in Iowa at Havelock, then Bode, and later Columbus Junction. In 1971, Frank was offered an assistantship to Wyoming University where he started a Master's degree in Education. Then in North Platte, Nebraska, the next twenty-eight years saw Frank and Ann teaching and engaging in mission work together at Bethel Church. in 1994, 1995, and 1997, they led a missionary team to Tatarstan, Russia, where they helped establish a Christian Church in Bugulma, a predominately Muslim City of 120,000 people.
After retiring from teaching at North Platte High School, the couple moved to Aurora, Illinois, where they taught for six years at Aurora Christian School. Then in 2005, they moved to the Denver, Colorado area to be closer to several family members. Not yet ready to completely retire, Frank taught for two years at Hillel Academy, an Orthodox Jewish School. At that time, an opportunity became available to teach at Colorado Christian University where Frank spent the next six years until eye surgery forced him to leave the classroom in 2013. At Colorado Christian University, Frank was presented the Affiliate Faculty of the Year Award in 2013.
Reading, teaching, and hiking with Ann and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were favorite activities for Frank. He loved the mountains! Frank again took up teaching Bible at Southern Gables Church in Littleton, Colorado, where he also served as an Elder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ruth, four brothers, Jim, Roland, Wayne, and Gerald, and sister, Eleanor; wives, Sandra and Sheila; stepson-in-law, Tim Larsen.
