Fernando D Vecchio

Fernando Vecchio, 37, of Bertrand, Nebraska, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska.

Fernando was born on April 5, 1985, in Mission, Texas to Santiago Luna and Araceli Rodriguez. He attended Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball before graduating with the class of 2003. In 2014, Fernando made the move to Lexington, Nebraska where he met his fiancée, Cassi Palmer.

Fernando was a big fan of sports. He could spend all day watching football or basketball and enjoying a delicious meal. His favorite teams were the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Mavericks, and the Houston Rockets. When he wasn’t watching sports, you could find Fernando watching true crime documentaries, working on brain teaser puzzles or doing some shopping. He was an animal lover and owned six dogs and three cats which he shared with Cassi. Fernando loved meeting new people, making friends and having a good conversation. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Santiago Luna, brother, Jimmy Luna, and sister, Laura Luna.

Those left to celebrate his life are his loving fiancée, Cassi Palmer of Bertrand, Nebraska; son, Brenden Davis of Brownsville, Texas; brothers, Luis Vecchio and Mario Vecchio, both of Lexington, Nebraska; sisters, Ashley Luna of Lexington, Nebraska, Stephanie Luna of Edinburg, Texas, and Rebecca Rodriguez of El Paso, Texas; niece, Aurora Vecchio Lopez of Lexington; nephew, Bentlee Ashton Vecchio Whitetail of Lexington, and many other relatives and friends.

There will be no public viewing, as the family is honoring Fernando’s wishes for cremation.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home with Father Jose Chavez, officiating.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
