Dick Stanley Phillips, 89, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at his home in rural Lexington. Dick was born March 3, 1929, in rural Lexington to Anthony and Fannie (Scott) Phillips. He was the 11th of 12 children born to this union. Dick attended school in Lexington, but left school in the 10th grade to help on the farm. On December 3, 1950, he married Wanda Dreher at the First Christian Church in Elwood. Four children were born to this union, Christy, Cindy, Rosalie and Daniel. On March 2, 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Dick was honorably discharged on December 5, 1952. Other than his time in the service, he has resided in the Lexington area his entire life. Dick’s lifetime career was farming, but his hobbies included fishing, traveling, camping, his vegetable gardens and following his children and grandchildren’s activities. He enjoyed playing cards, but most recently, his favorite game was a dice game called “Chicken.” Survivors include his wife, Wanda of Lexington; daughters, Christy (John) Underwood of Azle, Texas, Cindy Frerichs of Sumner, Nebraska, and Rosalie Zlomke of Grand Island, Nebraska; son, Daniel (Kim) Phillips of Tempe, Arizona; 16 grandchildren, Stephanie (Josh) Werkau, Casey Phillips, Matthew (April) Underwood, Sheila Rollins, Caprice (Chad) Ladner, Tammy (Chris) Dietz, Andrew (Ayla) Frerichs, Jamie (Jason) Tellus, Emma Frerichs, Jennifer Frerichs, Jacob (Jillian) Frerichs, John (Haleigh) Frerichs, Calvin Frerichs, Anna Frerichs, Philip (Alicia) Zlomke and Susan (Jason) Newman; 36 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); one great-great-grandson; a brother, F. Dale Phillips of Holdrege, Nebraska; brothers-in-law, Wesley (Jo) Dreher of Arvada, Colorado and Rod (Dixie) Dreher of Elwood, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Maxine Misterek of Elwood, Nebraska. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Susie Gerken, Laciel White and Emma Phillips; seven brothers, S. August, Tom, Roy, Ted, Ben, Ray, and Allan; son-in-law, Alvin Frerichs; and great-grandson, Christopher Dietz. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel with Pastor James Morton officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, south of Cozad, Nebraska. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18, at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home.
