Delma (Dee) F. Hiner 84, of Lexington passed away Monday, February 21, 2022 at her home in Lexington.
Delma Faye Hiner (Mitchell) was born in Lexington, Nebraska on December 5, 1937 to A. (Alexander) Stewart Mitchell and Mary (Marie) Mitchell of rural Lexington. She attended rural & Lexington Grade School until the 9th grade. She helped on the farm until the family moved into town after World War II. She worked at several jobs until being hired on at the Monroe Plant in Cozad in 1960 where she worked for almost 20 years until she left due to an injury.
Delma was a loving Mother to her son Jeff. They were both an avid stock car race fan and tried to attend every Sunday race. Tragically, her son Jeff passed away a few days short of his 14th birthday on March 4, 1978. In later years, she cared for her mother Mary until she passed in 1992. Delma passed time by volunteering at the Senior Center where she had many friends. Delma lived a simple life. She was very self-sufficient and asked very little of others. Her home was extremely orderly and clean. Delma was always honest with you. You always knew exactly what she was thinking and never held anything back! Got that from her mother! She always had a smile on her face!
She was preceded in death by her father Stewart, mother Mary, son Jeff, and sister Velma and brother-in-law Paul Sulc. She is survived by her nephew Biff Sulc of Lincoln, Nebraska, great nephew Lake Sulc of Marshalltown, Iowa, and nephew Mitch Sulc of North Platte, Nebraska.
A Graveside service will be held Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington with Pastor Nathan Rhea, officiating.
