Darrell Lee “Jim” Dugger, 64, of Johnson Lake, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on September 28, 1957, in Escondido, California, to Lee and Jean (Denham) Dugger. He attended and graduated from Basic High School in Henderson, Nevada. He then pursued higher education for two years through the Military. On December 20, 1974, Jim was inducted into the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country, re-enlisting five times until his honorable discharge on February 6, 1987. He served as a Drill Sergeant and Staff Sergeant. While being stationed in California, Jim had a daughter, Melissa. Jim lived all over the United States and while living in Colorado as a Recruiting Officer he had three children, Lori, James, and Nicole. On July 16, 2002, Jim married the love of his life, Cathy Key and her son, Jeremy came with the marriage, who he loved as his own. They made their home in Kingman, Arizona where Jim worked as a mechanic for American Woodmark. In 2013, they moved to Elwood, Nebraska and then Johnson Lake where they would settle to be closer to grandchildren. Jim enjoyed fishing, tinkering in his workroom, drinking a cold beer and driving around the lake on his golfcart. He was hooked on the drama series, Sons of Anarchy, watching Marvel Movies and was an avid Denver Broncos fan. Family was very important to Jim and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Cathy of Johnson Lake; his children, Melissa (Nathan) Betley, Lori Ward of Arkansas, James Dugger of Kingman, Arizona, Nicole Johnson of Texas and Jeremy Udstrand of Elwood; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Vicki (John) Brose of Kingman, Arizona; as well as extended family and friends. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his grandson, Chase Betley. There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. Jim’s expressed wish for cremation has been honored. A memorial has been established in Jim’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
