Dale A. Bye, 77, of Overton, Nebraska passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy in Omaha. Dale was born August 30, 1941 in Lexington to Cecil and Mable (McCoy) Bye. Dale attended school in Overton and graduated with the class of 1959. Dale spent all of his working years as a farmer in the Overton area except for two years when he served his country in the Unites State Army from 1964 until 1966. Dale was united in marriage to Janet Newcombe on February 24, 1968 in Eddyville, Nebraska. Dale retired from farming fifteen years ago but still liked getting on a tractor and do some work for Brennan Farms in Overton. Dale and Janet spent a part of many winters in their RV in Texas. Together they raised oranges and grapefruit in the Mission, Texas area and later wintered in McAllen, Texas. The couple had owned and operated the cafe and bar in Eddyville, Nebraska. Dale enjoyed going to casinos but his real passion was always farming. Dale and Janet were members of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overton and later St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington. Dale is survived by his wife, Janet of Overton; two brothers, Roy and wife Sue of Grand Island and Melvin and wife Darla of Overton; one sister, Lois Bliven of Overton; nieces and nephews, Dan and wife Christine Newcombe of McAllen, Texas, Sheila and husband Chris Bynum of Bloomington, Indiana, Lori and husband Dave Cumo of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Tom and wife Tara Newcombe of Norfolk, Rusty and wife Jenn Newcombe of Omaha, Vicky and husband Justin Spady of Hampton, Travis Newcombe of Hampton, Angie and husband and Dave Adle of Fishers, Indiana, Brian and wife Lisa Robinson of Overton and Kristy Jo Doremus of Johnson Lake, several great nieces and great nephews, extended family and friends. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Mick Bliven. A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Father Neal Nollette, officiating. There will be no visitation.
