Charlene Barta, 85, of Lexington, NE 68850, passed away 12 December 2018 at Lexington Regional Health Center surrounded by her immediate family. She was born 5 May 1933 in Kansas City, MO to Frank Overton and Nora Paylor. Charlene grew up in Kansas City, MO where she attended public school. Charlene was married to Edward Barta Sr in August 1948 in rural Nebraska. Ed and Charlene Barta started Love In Action Outreach Ministry in the early 1990's and the store continues today with her daughter, Patty Boeckman, managing the store. At one time Patty's brother, Ed Barta, Jr was operating it until his untimely death in September of 2009. Charlene has lived in different parts of Nebraska as a farmer’s wife and devoted mother. She loved her family and looked forward to having her children and grandchildren around. She was also a great lady who loved to sew in fact every outfit she ever wore she made, she even made the clothes her children wore to school or church or whatever activity they were involved in. Charlene spent most of her life besides being a mother, wife and life partner she worked as a housekeeper at various businesses in Lexington, NE and especially enjoyed working for Charlie and Julie Stuart as their housekeeper who treated her and Ed and the children like their extended family. Surviving children are: Patty Boeckman of Lexington, NE, she has 2 children, a daughter and a son, 4 grandchildren; 3 sons: Calvin Barta of Palestine, TX, 4 children-all daughters, 8 grandchildren, David Barta, Schuyler, NE, 2 children-boy and girl; Pat Eugene Barta (Bartton), Troupe, TX, 1 child a daughter and granddaughter. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse Edward D. Barta, Sr. January 2004 Lexington, NE, son-in-law Dusty C.D. Boeckman July 1997 Seoul, South Korea, son Edward D. Barta, Jr., September 2010, Schuyler, NE, daughter Elizabeth Barta Thomas, October 2014, Schuyler, NE. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Reynolds Love Funeral Home in Lexington, NE. She will be buried at Robb Cemetery, south of Lexington, beside her spouse of 56 years where her son-in-law, Dusty C.D. Boeckman, a military veteran is also buried. The family request artificial flowers in lieu of live flowers or a monetary donation will be accepted. Calvary Assembly of God Church will provide family and friends a meal after the funeral located at 1304 North Adams Street, Lexington, NE 308-324-5310.
