Carmen Diaz

Carmen Diaz, 62, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 16, 1958 in Morelia, Michoacán, México. Carmen was raised by her mother, Juventina Refugio Flores Martinez and grandparents, Antonio Flores and Carmen Martinez.

She was united in marriage on February 20, 1982 in Mexico to Rafael Diaz Rojas. Six children were blessed to this union: Maria Guadalupe, Ana Karina, Martha Salud, Rafael De Jesus Díaz Flores, Elida Izael Díaz Flores and Sandra Estela Díaz Flores. They made their home in México before moving to Lexington in 2000.

Once the family settled in Lexington, Carmen worked for over twenty years at Tyson in Processing. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington.

Carmen enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking and playing on her tablet. She also liked listening to music, singing and dancing, but the most important thing to Carmen was her family. She loved having large family gatherings and spending time with family at her home. Carmen has left a tremendous legacy of love, and faith to her family.

She leaves to celebrate her life, her husband, Rafael of Lexington; her children, Maria Guadalupe (Ramon) Beltran, Ana Karina (Jose) Contreras, Martha Salud (Cesar) Perez, Rafael De Jesus Diaz Flores, Elida Izael Diaz Flores (Luis Tzuban) and Sandra Estela Diaz Flores all of Lexington; twelve grandchildren, Handy, Antonio, Karen, Daniel, Isaeli, Alejandra, Henry, Cesarito, Camila, Fernanda, Karely and Adrian.

Carmen was preceded in death by her mother.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez, officiating.

The family is honoring Carmen’s wish for cremation, and there will be no visitation.

A memorial has been established in Carmen’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
