Bryce E. Swanson, 57 of Eddyville passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Bryce gave the ultimate gift of life to two individuals by organ donation through Live On Nebraska.
He was born July 24, 1964 in Lexington, Nebraska to Rodney and Patricia (Lauby) Swanson. Bryce attended school in Overton and graduated with the class of 1982. After high school he began farming with his dad & brothers. He moved to Eddyville in 1988, and began farming on his own in 1991.
On June 3, 1989 Bryce was united in marriage to Leah Burr in Eddyville. This union was blessed with two daughters: Kinzy and Baley.
Bryce never knew a stranger, and had a wide circle of friends. He loved farming, John Deere equipment, traveling, camping, his Harley Trike and collecting vehicles. He was in the process of restoring a 1966 Chevy pickup that had been in the family since it was first purchased new by his Grandpa. Bryce was well known in the Eddyville area for his generosity with his prized sweet corn crop, and his willingness to help anyone in need. More than anything, Bryce loved his family, especially his grandchildren, his greatest joy was spending time with them. He was proud to be their "Papa Bryce". He also enjoyed the companionship of his rescue dog, Kricket, who he referred to as "Rick".
Bryce was a member of the Eddyville Volunteer Fire Department, and was the Treasurer of the Village of Eddyville Board of Directors.
Bryce is survived by his wife, Leah of Eddyville, his daughters: Kinzy and husband Brent Carmody of Odessa, Baley and husband Cooper Davenport of Overton, grandchildren: Addison, Maxton, and Hutchinson Carmody, Trux and Traylin Davenport, his father, Rodney and wife Shirley Swanson of Overton, his mother, Pat Maguire of Kearney, one brother, Kevin Swanson and wife Kelly of Overton, two sisters: Kristi Shafer of Overton and Brooke Kohnen of Kearney, his mother and father-in-law, Kenneth and Sandra Burr of Sumner, two brothers-in-law: Tim Burr and wife Janet of Sumner and Jim Burr and wife Stacy of Lexington, as well as extended family and many friends.
Bryce is preceded in death by his grandparents and his brother, Daniel.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the SEM Gymnasium in Sumner with Pastor Ryan Findley, officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Reynolds Love Facebook page.
Interment will be in the Sumner Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
