Bob W. Davenport, 93, of Overton, Nebraska passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska. Bob was born October 9, 1930, to Arnold and Esther (Schroeder) Davenport in Hebron, Nebraska.
Following his schooling, Bob was employed at Foote Oil Company in Chester, Nebraska and it was there that he met Lillias Gehle who was employed as a bookkeeper. The two were married on July 16, 1952 in Stoddard, Nebraska. Shortly after they married Bob entered the military and served from 1952 to 1954 in Nuremberg, Germany. The couple moved to Overton in February of 1957 to start Foote Oil Company which he owned and managed until his retirement.
Bob and Lillias were blessed with three children, Danny Lee, Konnie Kay and Tammy Jane. In his younger years Bob was very active in the community and served in many capacities at the Overton Bank, Overton Volunteer Fire Department, American Legion, Village Board, Overton Public Schools, Cemetery Board and United Methodist Church. Bob enjoyed golfing, camping, traveling, woodworking and yardwork. As well as having coffee with his friends and spending time with family.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Konnie (Kevin) Turner of Overton and Tammy Blankenship of Kearney; granddaughter, Emmy Raastad and fiancé Travis Long of Overton, Tucker Turner of Omaha, Brett Blankenship of Omaha, and Brock (Chloe) Blankenship of Hickman, Nebraska; great-grandchildren Kaven and Jorja Raastad of Overton, Titus and Asher Blankenship of Hickman; brother Ray (Sharon) Davenport of Belleville, Kansas; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Esther, wife Lillias, son Danny, brothers Arnold, Jr., Gale and Allen; sister Vernetta Ruprecht, son in law Bruce Blankenship.
Funeral Service will be on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Overton United Methodist Church with Pastor Venedith Vargas, officiating.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Overton Cemetery at Overton.
