Alta Fern Jensen Meredith, 98, of Lexington, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Ridgeway Senior Living in Lexington.
She was born on February 22, 1926, in Eddyville, Nebraska to John W. and Bertha M. (Carr) Warner. Alta and her family moved to Lexington in 1932, and she graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1944. On December 10, 1947, she was united in marriage to Anton Jensen in North Platte, Nebraska. Three boys were blessed to this union: Bill, Roger, and Allen. After Anton's passing, Alta married William Meredith on October 7, 1995, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington.
Alta was an incredibly hard worker her entire life. She worked in various fields, including the school system, Westside Care Home, Monroe's, Tri-County Hospital, and Walmart. Her favorite job, however, was being a wife and mother to her boys. When she wasn't busy working, Alta enjoyed cross-stitching, cooking her famous Sunday dinners, and dancing while listening to her favorite music. In her younger years, Alta performed with her family at the local barn dances, playing the piano. Alta was known for her wonderful sense of humor and beautiful smile. Her family was her pride and joy and she loved nothing more than spending quality time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Bill (Nancy) Jensen of Lexington, and Roger Jensen of Lexington; grandchildren, Chris (Kelly) Jensen of Lexington, Stephanie Howell of Cozad, Candy Smith of Missouri, Amy (Corey) Anderson of Omaha, and Ryan (Tish) Jensen of Omaha; nine great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
Besides her parents, Alta was preceded in death by her husbands, Anton Jensen and William Meredith; four brothers, Ross, Clarence, Elmer, and Bert Warner; two sisters, Sadie Iberg, and Sarah Roberts; son, Allen Dale Jensen; and daughter-in-law, Sandy Jensen.
