Alma Rosa Borrego Hernandez, 43 of Lexington passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at her home in Lexington.
Alma was born June 9, 1977 in La Haciendita, Durango, Mexico to Mariano Borrego Barraza and Anastacia Hernandez de Borrego.
She was united in marriage in 1995 to Vidal Sarmiento Flores.
The couple moved to Lexington from Colorado in 1998. She worked at Head Start for 15+ years, and was Head Start Teacher of the Year in 2016.
Alma was a member of Dawson County Rooted in Relationship, Member of LECC, was a Pyramid Coach, and gave community educational parenting classes.
Alma enjoyed apples, gardening, sewing, crocheting, knitting, her two dogs, teaching, buying new clothes and shoes, and most of all being with her family.
Alma was a member of the Evangelical “Church Camino de Vida” in Lexington.
Survivors include her parents; both in Mexico, her husband, Vidal of Lexington, three sons: Vidal Sarmiento-Borrego of Lexington, Juan de Dios Sarmiento-Borrego of Lexington and Bernardo Sarmiento-Borrego of Lexington, two brothers; Luis M. Borrego Hernandez of Las Vegas, NV. and Mario Borrego Hernandez of Lexington, two sisters; Ma del Carmen Borrego Sauceda of San Luis, Colorado and L. Isabel Borrego Hernandez of Las Vegas, NV.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 29, 2021 from 3-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at the Evangelical “Church Camino de Vida” with Pastor David Santos, officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
